Abstract
This study explores the communication between former dating partners that have chosen to remain friends following the break-up. Post-dissolutional friendships are relationships with a legacy of romantic behavior turned into friends. Rules are a guide to behavior in relationships. Rules for both romantic relationships and friendships exist. This study discovered what rules guide the behavior in post-dissolutional friendship and how they relate to interpersonal solidarity.
