Abstract
The International Society for Business Education (la Société Internationale pour 1’Enseignement Commercial—SIEC) celebrates its centenary in 2001. It is no mean feat for an organisation—particularly an international body—dependent on the voluntary support of officers and members to survive 100 years despite the intervention of two World Wars. It is due in no small measure to the dedication and enthusiasm of the Presidents and the General Secretaries that the International Society has been able to continue over the hundred years. It seemed to several key players in the International Society that a record of the period from 1901 to 2001 should be published. A small writing group made up of the ISBE U. S. Historian Bill Anderson and former Vice Presidents LaNeta Carlock and Bob Ristau, under the chairmanship of past President Andrew Moore, was formed to undertake the task of researching the development of the Society. The records of SIEC/ISBE are held by the General Secretary, and the writers are grateful to the present and past holders of this office for the extensive and orderly archives which the writers were able to access in terms of correspondence, programmes for conferences, and journals (published under the title of the Review from the early periods.)
