The College of Education of Illinois State University is pleased to announce the 2013 Conference of the MID western Regional Comparative and International Education Society (MCIES) to be held October 11-13, 2013. Proposal Submission

Before submitting your proposal, please review the guidelines for each type of submission and comply with the requirements. Click here for the detailed Call for Proposals. Proposals that do not comply with the guidelines will not be considered for inclusion in the program. You may submit your proposal electronically here.

As a reminder, paper and poster proposals must include:

      • Title of the paper
      • Presenter’s name, institutional affiliation, and e-mail address
      • An abstract of 250-300 words in length

     The abstract should include:

      • Purpose of the paper/poster
      • Conceptual perspectives
      • Methodology/research design
      • Data sources or evidence
      • Results and/or conclusions and significance of the study
      • Keywords of the paper/poster
     All proposals are encouraged to submit even though the results may be preliminary at the time of the submission.



Workshop submissions should include:

      • Title of the workshop
      • Presenter’s name, institutional affiliation, and e-mail address
      • An abstract of about 500 words with the following information: objectives of the workshop, target audience, instructional goals, and planned workshop activities
      • A list of equipment or room set up requirements

Panel sessions submissions should include:

      • Title of the panel
      • A list of the names, institutional affiliations and e-mails of presenters, panel chair, and discussant(s)
      • An abstract of the panel topic with 250-300 words in length
      • An abstract of each paper with 250-300 words in length on the panel
      • Keywords of the panel topic AND each paper.
Note that the submission form has one text box for all the abstracts and one text box for all the keywords. Please denote which abstracts and keywords go with a given paper or panel topic.

Proposal review and selection process
All submitted proposals will be peer reviewed by experienced scholars and advanced doctoral students in each of the relevant fields.

Proposal Deadlines
Early bird deadline: August 9, 2013
Notifications: Within two weeks

Equipment
Standard presentation equipment (overhead projectors and PowerPoint equipped PCs) will be available for all sessions. Presentation slides and electronic materials must be formatted to be PC/Microsoft Windows compatible. Presentations must be saved to your own personal "memory stick" and be ready to upload prior to your presentation.

Participation limits
In order to promote and to allow as many conference attendees to present as possible, each individual may submit up to two different proposals for an individual or panel presentation. MCIES does not allow duplication of the same presentation content in different sessions.

Length of the sessions
Individual paper presentation: 15-20 minutes
Poster presentation: 60 minutes
Panel presentation: 60 minutes
