Abstract
This dissertation will present my work as a scholar-practitioner who seeks to find the balance between the scholarly knowledge and practitioner knowledge needed to adapt a nonfiction book for the screen. In grounding my project between these two knowledge bases, I am hoping to make a contribution to the scholarship surrounding adaptation theories when applied to film while producing a screenplay informed by both knowledges.
