Abstract
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) underscores the importance of interprofessional partnerships by designating Domain 6 to this focus in the 2021 AACN Essentials. Aligned with these national priorities, our Midwestern university also recognizes the vital role of interprofessional collaboration in nursing education. One critical partnership we had not yet established was with pre-hospital emergency personnel (PHEP), including emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and firefighters. This department paper highlights how we built those partnerships and transitioned from small-scale to full program integration with our local fire department for mass casualty training.
