Description

Oral history interview with Illinois State Normal University alum Marian Dean, Class of 1929. The interview was conducted on May 5, 1979, by John Sayre, Director of Alumni Services and Development, on the occasion of Dean’s induction into the Half Century Club (50th anniversary of her graduation). They discussed the historical boundaries of campus, transportation options, and social norms of the time. Dean recalls faculty and administrators that made an impact on her time at ISNU, such as Herman Schroeder, W. A. L. Beyer, and J. Rose Colby. She describes her many extracurricular activities, saying that she was glad to go to “a smaller school” so that she “could be a bigger duck in a little puddle.”
