Abstract

Presentations and panel discussion at University Galleries with ISU faculty members Dr. Melissa Johnson (Associate Professor, Art History & Visual Culture), Dr. Jennifer Banning (Professor of Fashion Design & Merchandising; Lois Jett Historic Costume Collection Director), and Rebecca Fitzsimmons (Special Collections Librarian, Milner Library). This event featured presentations by panel members discussing selected textiles from the permanent collections of University Galleries, the Lois Jett Historic Costume Collection, and Milner Library Special Collections. Highlighting the chosen pieces, the discussion explored themes relating to the technical and conceptual meaning of textiles and how viewers can approach textiles with curiosity and critique. Panel organized and facilitated by Holly Filsinger, graduate student in the School of Art.
